Story
Hi everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
For those of you that don't know, when I was a kid my Dad was diagnosed twice with malignant melanoma (an aggressive form of skin cancer). He completed a 12 month clinical trial of treatment, and was later prescribed other forms of medication. I am told his chances were not good and things seemed pretty desperate.
Then he visited a place called the Penny Brohn Cancer Care Centre in Bristol, which relies purely on charitable donations. Over 10 years have passed now and he recalls the week he spent at that centre as invaluable, a massive turning point and says they gave him renewed hope in getting well again.
As a thank you to the Penny Brohn charity I would like to raise funds, and so I have entered a triathlon called Ironman UK.
Sunday 22nd July, Bolton.
2.4 mile open water swim - 112 mile bike - 26.2 mile run
I entered in February, giving myself 6 months, with no previous open water swimming experience, no bike, never having ran a marathon and never having done a triathlon.
It's going to be tough, but for me it will act as a display of my appreciation for what they have done, a celebration of my Dad's continued good health and also a tribute to my late Grandma Joan.
Please donate and help me get sponsors by spreading the word.
