Extreme Charity Abseil · 27 May 2017 to 29 May 2017 ·
On Saturday 27th May between 14:00-15:00 I will be abseiling 120ft down the maternity block for Ipswich Hospital's baby bereavement group. I am nervous as I'm not the biggest fan of heights but excited to be raising money for such a fantastic cause.
On the 19th April 2014, my best friend & her partner were told the devastating news that their baby's heart had stopped beating just weeks before his due date. On the 22nd April 2014 she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy- Kyson Raymond Andrew Mitchell, with her family around her. It was a devastating time for us all, but the strength, courage and resilience my best friend has shown since then is inspiring. Kyson will be in all our hearts forever as his family will always cherish the short time they experienced with him.
After the loss of their baby boy, my best friend was offered lots of help from the baby bereavement group. In 2016 my best friends mum and sister organised a leaf to be placed on the tree of rememberence, for Kyson, with the aid of the baby bereavement group.
Also in 2014, I began to work with ladies experiencing miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies. It is an eye opening and heartbreaking experience. Unfortunately, pregnancy loss happens more frequently than people realise, effecting 1 in 4 pregnancies and there is not always a reason for it. It's so important for the families going through these traumatic times to get the support they deserve. Rest assured there is a fantastic team of doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants to help families through this devastating experience, physically and mentally. But it doesn't stop there. There is support available afterwards too. The baby bereavement group are there to support grieving families after losing a baby. They have monthly meetings to help people grieve for their babies and offer them support as well as ways to remember angel babies. The follow up care a family receives is just as important as the care they receive during the experience which is why I would love to raise money for this cause.
My initial aim is to raise £250, but I hope to smash this target. Please donate and help me reach my target and share this page to spread the word.
In loving memory of Kyson x
