Story
In 2019 and 2020, I am taking part in numerous events to raise money for Unicef UK, culminating in climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with colleagues from my employer, Autovista Group. These will likely push me to a physical limit, but should also be a tremendous achievement once completed. So, what am I doing...
- Brighton Marathon - April, 2019. 26.2 miles of running 'fun', my first marathon. Gulp...
- Dragon Ride Sportive, Wales - June, 2019. 140 miles of hilly (mountainous?) cycling, in the Brecon Beacons.
- L'Etape UK Sportive by le Tour de France, Bucks - July, 2019. 100 miles of arduous cycling, in the Chilterns.
- Stelvio Pass, Italy - August, 2019. Cycling 48 hairpin bends up and over the second highest mountain pass in the Alps (2,795m / 9,045ft).
- Lake District Challenge - October, 2019. Hiking three peaks in the Lake District National Park in England (Helvellyn, Cat Bells, Skiddaw).
- Mount Kilimanjaro - February, 2020. The final act of it all - climbing the highest mountain in Africa, the tallest freestanding mountain on earth (5,895m / 19,341 ft)!
- £60 could help two families collect and store clean water with an emergency water and hygiene kit.
- £125 could provide blankets for 25 babies.
- £260 could protect 2,000 children from polio by providing lifesaving vaccinations.
- £590 could help 160 children continue their education with Unicef's school in a box.
- £1,100 could supply a tent for a temporary school or health centre.
