Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our beautiful mother sadly passed away in late 2017 after a long and very difficult struggle with Parkinson's disease. Mum fought very hard with the help of family and many friends. We have received so many messages from friends and family all of whom mum touched their lives. She helped, comforted and guided so many people throughout her life and will forever live on in everyone's memory. Mum had so much love and affection to give.
Parkinson's is a terrible disease of which we don't know enough about. The disease is currently not curable, just treatable with many drugs all of which have terrible side effects. Treatment simply prolongs life of sufferers.
For this reason I want to put as much effort as possible into raising money for the Parkinson's UK Charity by setting myself challenges that I know mum would be very proud of me for.
Many of you very kindly donated to my original page in memory of mum : https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/elizabethgarratt1 and I thank you so much for that from the bottom of my heart. I know the money will be very well spent on further advances in the treatment and care for people who suffer from Parkinson's.
This time I have an even bigger goal and a bigger target and this certainly won't be the end of my fundraising challenges.
In March 2019 I will be spending 5 days trekking/skiing and snow shoeing across Finland with other people who have been affected in some way by Parkinson's in order to raise at least £2300.
Please help me to reach this goal and hopefully smash it and I promise you will be rewarded in the knowledge that you have helped someone somewhere who is suffering with Parkinson's but also in the knowledge that in March 2019 I will be putting all my efforts into smashing this challenge for you, for mum and for everyone who is suffering.
Please do take 5 minutes of your time to research Parkinson's if you don't know what it is or the many different effects it has on people. A friend who I have met through my mum made this short video and I think it really gives you a good idea about the disease : What's it like to have Parkinson's? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gATpqp7Cuso&t=3s
I would love if you can spare any amount at all to donate towards the Parkinson's UK Charity to help research into finding a cure and better treatment so no one else has to suffer.
Love to you all and thank you so much.
We love you mum xxx
