We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

Dear All,

I just wish to explain my reasons for running for the Prostate Cancer Society, and why I am such a strong advocate for it.  Doubtless I can reel off the medical reasons, that each year 32,000 men are diagnosed with the cancer, and that of those 10,000 will die.

But in truth, I believe that the gender pendulum has swung too far the other way, and it would be good to correct it.  In general terms, as many men suffer and die due to Prostate Cancer as women do from breast cancer.

However, there is only one charity in the UK that serves to look for advanced screening or medical advancements for this cancer, whilst women have over 120 charities in the UK, raising vastly superior funds for their research.

So really what I am saying is:  ladies, in no way do I wish to detract from the importance of your cause, but men are just as important as women.  You need us just as much as we need you!!  So please give generously!

And men, believe me when I say that this is definitely for your future benefits, so don't be shy either!

Thanking you now, and don't forget to tick the Gift Aid!
