Story
I am Jamie Littlejohns a 21 year old student from and on the 1st February 2009 I will be competing in Tough Guy to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in support of the Neil Desai Foundation.
Tough Guy 2009 is the world’s safest most dangerous test of mental physical pain endurance; it will be a physically challenging, mentally demanding, fear inducing, visual spectacular.
The course is based on army and SAS assault courses and is stated as totalling “8 country miles”, but this consists of around 50 obstacles including: A ¾ mile scramble through 2m high nettle bracken, two miles of twelve 45o hill climbs and descents, 400 yards of cargo net crawls, leech ponds, 500 yards of undergrowth crawling, 50 yards of rope climbing, tunnels, underwater tunnels, a trench maze with barbed wire, fire and bogs, a 100 yard trudge though a swamp, a plank walk into a freezing murky pond, a 41 foot cargo net climb, zip wires and a series of electrified jelly fish tentacle curtains! Oh, and this will all be done at the beginning of February so it will be filthy and freezing! The total course takes two to three hours for a strong contestant to complete.

The Neil Desai Foundation was set up in Memory of Neil Desai who died unexpectedly and suddenly on his birthday on the 5th September 2008 aged 22 years. His death caused immense shock and sadness for his family and friends.
The foundation supports causes that were important to him, in particular Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and Street Child .
