Story
In an attempt to raise money for Ellon and District Cats Protection I will be giving up my beloved alcohol for the whole month of May.......
I have been a foster carer for over 10 years. Since having to retire from my paid job in 2010 due to disability. Fostering is my life, my reason to get up and get going in the morning. Is it an easy job? No! Has there been tears? Yes plenty, especially for a softie like me. The old, the abandoned, the strays or just simply those that come to us because their owners cannot look after them anymore. However hard I try to resist I always seem to get attached which makes it so hard to say goodbye when the time comes for them to leave for their forever home! Would I change it? NO, not on your nelly. This is us and this is what we do 24/7 365!
We are a small group of volunteers who between us have 11 outdoor pens and/or spare rooms in our homes. We also have a small group fundraisers who can call on other supporters to help at events.
We rescue and rehome unwanted and stray cats and kittens as well as trap, neuter and return feral cats.
The Ellon Branch covers a large geographical area including the villages of Methlick, Tarves, Pitmedden, Hatton, Balmedie and Belhelvie as well as the rural areas in between. All our cats over six months old are neutered and most are vaccinated and microchipped.
In accordance with Cats Protection policy we visit all prospective owners in their homes, this helps us find the cat most suited to their lifestyle. For first time owners, we can give advice and answer any questions they may have.
