This Sunday, the 26th April, is the day that the London marathon was due to take place. I did the Belfast marathon in 1999, one of the best days of my life. Though I will almost certainly never do another (haha!) This 2.6 challenge is a nationwide effort to help charities at a time when they have lost a lot of income from events.
My personal challenge is to have 100 calls with friends and family this weekend. As you all know, I'm a bit crap making calls, so even though it's not like running 26 miles (I haven't trained for 6 months for this, I could pull a muscle), it will be a proper challenge. And a joyful one.
As you know, at the beginning of the year, I started a new job as the Managing Director of The Cares Family, a network of five community-based organisations which tackle social isolation by forging meaningful connections between older and younger neighbours in their communities.
It feels like we are needed now more than ever. We all get what it means to be isolated and we can see that what matters most in life is our connections with others. I'd love you to give me £2.60 and time for a 10-minute chat this weekend.
"If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough" I'm dreaming of 100 calls with 100 exceptional people this weekend. Sign up. I promise to tell you a new joke.
