Story
Starting 20.09.17, my brother MG & I will cycle 4000km through mountainous Japan to raise money for Action Breaks Silence. We hope you can support us!
As gender equality improves in the developed world, it's easy to forget millions of women still live in fear of gender-based violence. In South Africa, a woman is raped every 19-36 seconds; in India, 848 are harassed, raped or murdered daily; in the UK, 585,000 are raped or sexually assaulted yearly in England & Wales alone. The mission of Action Breaks Silence is to "create a world free from fear of gender-based violence", traveling to afflicted regions to train women & girls to defend themselves, and educate boys to respect women and help end the violence long-term.
The NGO relies 100% on donations, so we aim to raise £12,000 to fund a 3-week tour, teaching thousands of women & children. A huge target, but a huge journey - hence a goal we hope you'll help us reach! Even a small amount helps protect someone from life-changing trauma:
£12.50 pays for 1 woman/child to receive training
£50 pays for 4 women/children to receive training
£150 pays the weekly salary of a trainer in India or South Africa
Thank you for your support! Laura & Michael-George - Japanonabike.com
