Story

My Beatifull Sister Kersty fought a brave fight with bowel and brain cancer. She was such a loving sister, wife and an amazing mother to my nieces, and we are all devastated at her passing at just 33 years of age!

All through ks illness her thoughts were with others and how she could ease their pain and suffering to come. Her selflessness was remarkable given what k faced!

Diagnosed with bowel cancer june17, k had surgery to remove tumours. Unfortunatley not all could be safely removed and k was left with a colostomy bag. In sept 17 kersty became paralised in her lower limbs due to a rare form of malnutrition. This brought a whole new aspect of disability to the situation she faced.

Learning to cope with disability whilst battling cancer took its toll on my sister, but she continued to strive to spend quality time with her girls. With xmas approaching she began chemo to slow the onset of the disease. Kersty enjoyed xmas day surrounded by all of our family altho sadly this was to be our very last xmas together.

Into 2018 kbegan to have difficulties with her kidneys, this prompted a 4 month break from chemo and trips in and out of hospital. This cumilated in may when her kidneys had to be bypassed and drained into 2 pouches. K would never let any of this get her down!

Sadly in july k developed a brain tumor and began to rapidly decline. Fighting braverly through loss of strength and speech.

Kersty passed away peacefully at home sept 14th, taken far too soon, only 33!

Before ks passing she was determined for us to continue our lives and live them to the full, and to that end i have decided to run GNR in 2019 with my wife victoria, my daughter Shannon and Kerstys husband Bob, to raise funds for macmillan and the amazing job they do. This will be a challenging time for us as a family and we will be facing so many firsts without our k, but this as a team gives us something to focus and strive for.

Macmillan drs and nurses did and continue to do alot for us as a family. We are so gratefull for there support, we wanted to show our thanks by raising as much money as we can in our kerstys name.

We love and miss you so very much Kersty-we hope we do you so very proud in our efforts in your name xxxx

love you kersty xxx
