Story
I've got 12 weeks to train for a marathon, and more importantly raise £2,000 for Children with Cancer UK.
Sadly, cancer is still the most common cause of death for children aged 1-14 in the UK. Around 250 children per year lose their lives to some form of cancer, with 50 more young adults losing their battle having been diagnosed as a child.
Fifty years ago, three quarters of children diagnosed with cancer died; today more than three quarters survive. This would not have been possible without the hard work put in by cancer researchers around the world, and a large part of this is aided by cancer support charities such as CwC UK.
Aside from funding this vital research, CwC UK provide necessary support to the families of children diagnosed with cancer. This includes hospice care, financial assistance, fun days out and funding dedicated children's hospitals. CwC UK also raise awareness of childhood cancer to protect children and improve the lives of those affected by cancer. This is done through newsletters, conferences, social networks and exciting events held throughout the country. CwC UK work with policy makers to ensure childhood cancers are considered in public policy.
Children with Cancer UK is entirely funded by donations, and every pound donated can really make a difference to children with cancer.
