Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Corpal is a charity close to my heart and have made friends with many families who have been affected by the condition Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC) or Aicardi Syndrome (AC).  The Corpus callosum is the main pathway of fibres across the brain and if this is missing or underdeveloped in some way, it can cause anything from mild learning and social difficulties to severe development delay.

These conditions are still rarely known, however over the past few years diagnosis has been as early as a 20 week scan during pregnancy, if not at this time, depending on how it affects the brain it can also be found later in their life in an incidental finding. It is now known 1-3000 births are known to have this condition.

I would like to raise awareness, but also help raise funds to help us achieve our projects, such as continuing to raise awareness in schools by donating books on the condition to help children understand, visiting schools and being interactive with the children to raise awareness by giving them activities to take part in. Also later this year (depending on the situation)  we plan to hold workshops for Foetal Medicine centres to raise awareness and educate those professional who will find it helpful for when they carry out scans and speak with families and make them aware that there is support out there.

So everyone, please can you help me raise the awareness by donating however small or big to my fundraising page or if you live nearby and want to join me on the day, you will be very welcome, hopefully you will not miss me, I will be out on the driveway with Corpal flags and banners in view. If you happen to be driving passed (A3 -Southbound, New Malden) show your support by making some kind of sound (safely!)

Corpal has come a long way over the years, but we really need to get the message out to help those who have no idea of how the condition can affect.
