Jen's Wing Walk, London Marathon, and trek up to Everest Base Camp

Reaching for the sky :) · 7 February 2018
Whilst battling through major health issues for the last few years, this impacted on my mental health as well. My mini victories since I was diagnosed with Cholesteatoma in 2016 have carried me through ongoing hospital appointments, 2 operations, hearing loss, tinnitus and will continue to carry me forward through ongoing head scans to check for recurring disease, keeping everything crossed I won't need further operations. BUT, in the meantime I decided to step it up a notch back in March 2018! - challenging myself to raise awareness for DeafBlind UK and all the amazing work this charity does for people living day in day out with dual sensory loss.
This is where your amazing support would be ever so appreciated, on top of all the amazing love and support I've had so far.
This charity is based close to where I grew up, which I am hugely passionate about supporting, since my own recent experiences have taught me so much about what it is like to live with sensory loss. I ran a half marathon in April with my best friend who has been incredible support. In October I will be walking on wings with the aerobatics wing walkers! Yep, strapped to the wings of a plane whilst its' in the air and, of course, i'll be doing my best to crack out some acrobatics! Or failing that i'll do my best to smile at least :) I am super lucky to have got a place in the ballot of the London Marathon 2019, and in September 2019 I'll be heading to Nepal to hike up to Everest Base Camp!
I would be incredibly grateful if you would share this on my behalf to spread the word. I am over the moon at hitting my original target of £1,000, thanks to each and every kind donation I have received. I will continue to push my fundraising in the hope to hit £2,000 by the time i'm up Everest! Any kind donations would mean the absolute world on my little mission to raise awareness and support such a wonderful charity.
Incredibly, there are an estimated 394,000 people in the UK who struggle with dual sensory loss, so you may even know someone who has difficulties with this every single day; a friend, family member, a work colleague or even a neighbour on your street. They may not know about DeafBlind UK, so if you have a moment to let them know about the charity, you never know, it could be life changing for them and that will be thanks to you.
Deafblindness is one of the most challenging disabilities that a person can endure, and is described as ‘the loneliest condition in the world’. DeafBlind UK provide human support, together with specially adaptive equipment, helping deafblind people achieve their full potential, whatever that may be.
