Story

Thank you for visiting my London Marathon fundraising page.

In 2005 through the charity ICYE-UK I spent 6 months living and working in Kyamukama, a small village in Uganda. I worked at the school in the photo, Living Hope Childrens Development Centre. It was set up by Pastor John Luyinda and they currently teach primary school pupils aged 4 to 11. When I arrived the fourth classroom had no roof, the walls were unpainted and the floors were bare earth. Using the money I had raised before going out to Uganda paid for the roof, cement, paint, labour and the beginning of brick making to construct new classrooms.

I am in regular contact with Pastor John and he tells me he has plans to build new classroom blocks for the upper primary. I have promised him I will do my utmost to raise as much as I can in order for these buildings to be completed.

**Update** 19/01/09 In a recent email from Pastor John detailing the costs to build the new classrooms I have upped my fundraising target considerably! The construction of the building including all materials and labour totals just under 7,700,000 USh, that's £2500 to you and me. I felt it would be fantastic if we could raise the full amount.

ICYE have kindly agreed to transfer the money I raise through this page to Living Hope CDC. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange (Icye-Uk) Ltd gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
