Story
Hi there, my name is Jeremiah Newcombe and I have not had my hair cut since July of 2008. The longest sections now reach down to my waist which is certainly longer than it has ever been before. I have enjoyed my hair and I will miss it, but its time for it to go.
As I face the prospect of getting older I look at the heads of my maternal uncles' and realize that its probably better to follow their example and go bald gracefully rather than try to hide the fact that its happening.
Then there is the hair itself. Originally I had planned to sell it but after assessing the value of hair, minus the cost of the haircut, I decided that it was barely worth the effort. It was then that a friend of mine suggested I should donate it to LPT (The Little Princess Trust) as an alternative to selling it or throwing it away.
LPT make wigs for children who have suffered hair loss due to cancer treatment or as a result of some other medical condition. they provide all their wigs free and claim that they have never turned down a child that needed their help. The retail value of each wigs provided is around £1,500 but with donations from the public LPT have reduced this cost to around £350 per wig on average.
As someone who knows all about insecurity I can't think of a better way to use my hair than to help another person find the courage they need to face the world. So instead of simply sending LPT my hair i would like to ask all of you to help me raise the money to pay for at least one whole wig and help make a child's life a little better.
