Hello everyone. Team TTG (Travel Trade Gazette) is doing everything possible this year to raise a whole heap of cash for the Alzheimer's Society. It goes without saying, the society does remarkable work to help the growing number of people experiencing dementia and their families, while also educating and informing the public about how to look out for signs of early onset.
The number of people with dementia in the UK is expected to rise to more than one million by 2025, and two million by 2051. One in six people over the age of 80 have dementia, but it doesn't just affect older people - there are more than 40,000 people under the age of 64 with dementia in the UK.
I have no particular story to tell in respect of my family and friends suffering with the disease, other than to remind everyone the likelihood is that all of us will - directly or indirectly - experience and/or live with dementia in our lifetimes, whether that's a relative, friend or loved one, or yourself.
So please do give a few quid if you can and help me towards my £450 target, which is just a small part of TTG's efforts to raise tens of thousands for the Alzheimer's Society this year. Ta very much indeed.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
