Story

Come see Jimmy Car…ew live. I’ve often struggled with public speaking. I’ve done a lot of work and courses over the years to change this. Less about boosting confidence and more about self-esteem I’m putting myself out of my comfort zone to undertake 8 weeks of lessons with Ultra Comedy culminating in a five-minute set at the Backyard Comedy Club in Bethnal Green. I’m a stand-up guy, but can I be a stand-up comic?

All the performers on the day are fundraising for their chosen charities. Mine is the London Irish Centre.

In 1955, the London Irish Centre (LIC) opened its doors to meet the needs of newly arrived Irish emigrants. Initially providing accommodation and welfare, the Centre quickly became an important social and cultural venue. Today, the LIC continues to be the Irish Heart of London - the largest Irish community centre outside of Ireland and the largest Irish welfare charity in Britain. Our mission is to empower and enrich lives through Irish community and culture.
