RESULTS
Well I done it! According to my stopwatch (official times to be confirmed) I did the run in 56.45 which I am really pleased about. I have a new Personal Best! The hills were a little on the tough side towards the end - a nasty kick uphill towards the end left me with Mr Crazy Legs at the finish line. Many thanks to everyone who has supported and encouraged me to do this. It has been emotional.
UPDATE!
I am also training for my first triathlon the following weekend and so last weekend I did my first practice swim-bike-run session and scoped out the run route on my bike. The good news is that I was able to cycle the route and get to the end. The bad news is that it is rather undulating and according to Runners World not a race for those looking for a PB. OMG, I am now using the term PB.
THE ROUTE
TOE WATCH!
After an unfortunate sparring incident my toe is looking and feeling a bit better (more pink that purple). Bit of a Kung Fu fail just over a week before the race but... should be ok. Will go for a test run...
HOW IT ALL STARTED
I started running up and down the St John's Road on the 31st December 2009 having never run before. It has been a bit of an up and down process - in the early days I certainly did not enjoy the walk / run / walk stages but now... I am still not a natural runner but I have kept at it. Run Forest!
The Tunbridge Wells 10K will be my first race and, rather naively, I am looking forward to it. I will be raising money for Hospice in the Weald - they are also organising the race so it would be lovely if you could make me train a little bit harder, run a little bit faster and also support a fantastic charity that helps a lot of people in the last stages of their life.
