SJS Awareness UK is a charitable organisation providing information and support for those affected by Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) which are forms of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs), supporting Research and raising awareness of SJS/TEN in the UK.

Story

Hi,

I am raising money for this wonderful charity in memory of my Dad who recently died of this rare and devastating disease. SJS and TEN are both forms of a disease in which the body destroys its own skin, eyes and organs. Those who survive this disease can be left blind and disfigured with years of further complications. Or those, like my Dad, may suffer sepsis and heart attacks which can ultimately lead to a quick and unpreventable end.

However, with the right care and support, patients can be helped to fight this disease. My Dad did not suffer any pain or anxiety before this disease took him before his time and this is only through the awareness and support provided by charities such as this one and incredible hospital teams. Such as the Burns Unit as Chelsea and Westminster Hospital who made my Dad's final days as calm and comfortable as possible.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for being a part of my Dad's life. He leaves a legacy of change for the better and proactivity throughout the cycling community, as well as finding humour and kindness in the smallest of things.
