Story
Hey everyone
I'm running the Scottish Half Marathon in Edinburgh on May 23rd as part of a gang of girls I know through Fit for a Princess (http://www.fitforaprincess.co.uk/). I thought I’d take the opportunity (this being the most significant sporting event I will ever have taken part in!) of trying to raise some money at the same time. The charity I want to help is called the Battledown Friends Group, which supports the Battledown Centre in Cheltenham.(http://www.battledown.gloucs.sch.uk/). Battledown is an amazing special school that helps children aged 0 -7 who have a whole range of additional needs including learning difficulties, speech and language delay, physical impairments and so on. Their goal is to get the children into mainstream education wherever possible, and what they do really is life changing for the children and parents involved.
My gorgeous godson Felix, who’s three and a half, attends the school, and his mum, my friend Catherine, says they’re completely brilliant at the centre and have helped him no end. Because of them we hope Felix will learn to walk and talk.
At the moment the group is raising money for new play equipment for the school which I know Felix will enjoy (he loves a go on the seesaw). The equipment's really specialised and is an integral part of the children's sensory and physical development.
It's easy to donate through this page - your details are safe with JustGiving and they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Battledown and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
Thanks so much for your support
