This July my brother Freddie, my sister's boyfriend Harry and myself will cycle 980 miles from John O'Groats to Lands End over the course of 6 days to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Trust.

3 weeks after my daughter's birth, we were told Georgi had CF, a life limiting condition that impacts her lungs and digestive system. Initially, we were devastated. When you hear terms like ‘life expectancy', ‘long stays in hospital’ and ‘lung transplants’, it’s easy to dwell on the negatives and worry about what the future holds for your beautiful little baby.

20 months on, Georgi is a determined, brave and confident little girl. We have been lucky enough to spend time under the care of the amazing team at the Royal Brompton and had exposure to the wider CF community, witnessing some of the motivational people managing the condition alongside living full and active lives. These experiences have shown us that there is so much hope for Georgi, but she will need to fight every step of the way with the support of those around her to keep her on track, whilst the search for a cure continues.

Doing this cycle, we really hope to raise as much as money as possible to support the work done by the CF Trust. They are a fantastic organisation and the only UK based charity supporting both CF sufferers and their families. As well as funding vital research into CF treatments in the attempt to find a cure.

However, there is also another side to this cycle, which is about challenging ourselves just as Georgi will be challenged every day. We want to inspire her and show her that you can do anything you put your mind to.

We never forget the seriousness of Georgi’s condition, but she inspires us every day that this is a fight we must win.
