Well, this is it! It's finally here! After months of training (in the loosest sense of the word) the ride is finally upon us! 60 moonlit miles to Brighton starting tonight at midnight at Clapham Common. Thanks to the generosity of family and friends, we hope as a team that we have raised over £1000 for the British Heart Foundation. On behalf of Dan, Graham, Pete, Lee, Joe and myself, I would like to thank all of you who have donated to this cause. If you haven't donated yet, but would still like too, you can do so at www.justgiving.com/JohnHoulihan. Once again, a huge thanks to you all and bring on midnight!
So, less than 2 weeks to go now. Seems like an age ago that we had the idea to sign up and now its finally here!
Great training ride with Dan Jackson, Graham Jack and Pete Purdue last night. About 32 miles with some tough hill climbs from Stevenage out to the perimeter fence, 100 yards from Luton airports runway. Was weird being so close to the planes landing and taking off! Felt really good during and after the ride and am pleased with the time we completed it in, even if I didnt get in until midnight!
A couple more donations to update on, one of Derya's colleagues, Sally Tizzard has donated £5, whilst a friend of the family, Mark has donated £10. Huge thank yout o you both and everyone that has donated so far, it really means a lot. Also, a huge thank you to the staff and customers of the Ridgeweay Tavern in Enfield for raising a huge £70 at their Sunday night quiz last week. This is a huge amount and we could never have imagined it would be that much, so thank you!!
Still 2 weeks to get your donations in to us. Easiest way is via www.justgiving.com/johnhoulihan but alternativly by text or by messaging me or Joe direct.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far and Ill update you all in a few days.
Rider number turned up today. I'm number 1734 of 4500! Didnt realise there were so many people taking part in the night ride! Also another £10 donation from my cousin Phil Houlihan. Thank you for that Phil, but not sure I'll be doing it in a spurs shirt!
Also found out today that the route doesnt take in the iconic Ditchling Beacon, due to health and safety reasons, what with it being dark when we arrive. (Hope I'm not being too optomistic about our time there!) However, apparently we do take on the aptly named 'Devils Dyke' which is supposedly ony 100ft shorter and the deepest dry Valley in the world. (Not sure its very dry at the moment though!)
Remember, the quickest and easiest way to donate is through my online just giving page using a debit or cedit card. It only takes a minute and no details are stored, so it is completely safe.
Once again, thank you for your donations so far, and I'll keep you updated as we get coser to the big day!

Seeing as how I'm getting a few offline donations and there's no way to include names on the page, I thought I'd use the comments bit to let you know about these offline donations, so you can see how I've got to the total figure! Daphne & Ken £60 Derin £10 Deniz & Sonny £5 Adele £20 Rob & Shirl £25 Helen Andrews £10 Sharon & Paul £50 Thanks guys for your kind donations! I'll keep this updated daily!
No updates for a while, to be honest, have been too busy to update the page.
Now just over 3 weeks to go to the big ride. Training has been hard due to the drought that we've been experiencing, but have managed to ride into work and home most days. planning on a few 40 mile rides in the next two weeks to step up the distance.
My new road tyres have turned up today, so I'm off to fit them now, but before I go, just a reminder to give what you can to support such a fantastic cause.

So, less than ten weeks to the off! Getting a bit nervous about the whole thing now! Been training as much as possible, but had a week off work and a list of jobs to do, so not as much training as I would've liked. Still had 2 longish rides though. Have also been watching what I eat a lot more, no takeaways and more rabbit food! Back to work this week, so will be cycling in, but off again next week! Hopefully will get out on at least 4 rides then. Still need sponsors, so please dig deep guys and give what you can for this great cause!

Training going ok this week. Had a bit of a bad back over the weekend, so no big rides so far, hopefully get out on Thursday for a long ride. However, been riding into work from Hitchin which is 6 miles each way, so not a complete disaster. Have a few more lads in the team now too, do that's great news! Don't forget to visit my just giving page and donate to the great cause! Any donations are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi guys! Finally able to get out on the bike this week! Have been cycling to and from work with Dan Jackson and Graham Jack. In all covered about 40 miles. (give or take, had a few problems with the technology!) Beside a squeaky wheel on Tuesday, which is sorted now, it has gone well. Feeling good and can already feel the benefit. Although still don't think I've a mutually covered the 60 miles needed yet! Haven't decided on cycling in next week, as it means cycling in, round delivery, then home! See how I feel Sunday evening! Hoping to go on a bit longer of a ride on Sunday morning with the lads, nothing concrete yet tho. Have set up the Vodafone text giving service for you to sponsor me with. For example, To sponsor £5, just text JLTB85 £5 to 70070. Or visit www.justgiving.com/johnhoulihan. Thank you once again for your support and I'll update you soon!

Training not going so well this week due to the snow and ice. Did get out on the bike twice, but no great distance covered. The plan this week is to throw myself into training headfirst, starting Monday morning with a very cold ride into work! Wish me luck and I'll let u know how I'm getting on!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just giving Page.
Along with a few colleagues, I have decided to get off my bum, and try to raise money for charity, whilst putting myself through an experience that I, along with everyone that knows me, would have never thought I would do! London to Brighton night ride!
Please sponsor me for this event, as much or as little as possible as we are aiming to raise as much as we can. All donations are greatly appreciated. As a well known generic supermarket chain says, 'Every Little Helps'!
Wish me Luck!
