Story
It has been a couple of years since my last event and as I am now on the wrong side of the age hill I need to demonstrate my eternal youth by walking for ever (well 195 miles at least!).
Wainwright's Way is named after a well known walker/author who spent most of his life walking the length and breadth of Britain (don't worry I hadn't heard of him either!). The walk takes us through 5 National Parks spanning the full width of the country, starting at St Bee's in Cumbria and finishing at Robin Hood's Bay in Northumberland, 195 miles later.
The 'expedition' will be a bit like Last of the Summer Wine as it is 6 of us, including 3 pensioners; Compo, Clegg and Foggy (Bill, Vic and Roger) with a couple of wipper snappers and a touring Kiwi (He's been told it's a doddle!). It will take us 12 days, 12 B& B's, lots of blisters and a few strained muscles, oh and plenty of local beer!
The charity I am supporting is one of the 2 nominated charities for Masterlease (my employer) in 2008, and does fantistic work for sick kids in the Birmingham and Midlands area, so any support will be greatly received.
Thanks again for any donations you can give and I look forward to catching up with you once I have got off the Physio's bench!
Cheers
Jon (Quinny)
