Once upon a time there lived a husband and wife in a lovely home in the South East. The husband whilst sitting in the living room said, 'I need to set myself a challenge', the wife replied, 'you could get the washing up or ironing finished.' 'No, no I mean something really challenging.' A long pause occured whilst the husband thought. 'I know, I have it, I'll cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats before I'm 30, and I'll get some other mug to do it with me.'

Well it sort of started like that. Now myself and a friend have set the challenge to cycle John O'Groats to Lands End (yes we did change it, now we're going down hill!!!).

In 2006 the RNLI saved 299 lives and it cost approximately £122.3M to run (around £335,000 per day). Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboats have saved more than 137,000 lives.
