As many of you know, Jon spent his final weeks and days in the London Irish Ward at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. We went to the hospital full of hope that they could repair Jon’s bones in his neck and lower back in order that he could have some quality of life.

After a very successful first procedure to straighten Jon’s neck, scans revealed that his cancer had spread to more of his bones but more critically to his lungs. This meant that Jon was unable to have his second procedure and what he required was end of life care.

Whilst Stanmore and their nursing staff are not set up for end of life care, Jon was eventually too ill to be moved into hospice care. The loving care and attention he received from the surgical team, doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants was nothing short of incredible. We as a family will be forever indebted to them  for the beautiful and gentle way in which they cared for  Jon in his final days. He loved them all and no matter how ill he felt, they always received a warm  greeting from Jon who remained kind and so appreciative to the end.

With love and many thanks.

The Packer Family.
