Story
As many will know our lovely Josh Wilkinson finally lost his brave but agonising two-year battle with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer in September 2017. Josh lived in and loved Egerton in Kent all of his short but sweet life, attending the primary school and indulging in his passion for sport and fun on the playing fields whenever he could with friends and his twin brother Ben, and younger twins Jack and Sam. His adapted trike (JOSH 1) helped when he couldn’t ride a bike.
With the incredible practical and emotional help and support from Taylor-Made Dreams, the Emily Ash Trust , CLIC Sargent, UCL Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital in every aspect of coping with Josh’s illness we managed to make some of Josh’s wishes on his bucket list come true all of which reflected his zest for life, laughs and love of people of all ages.
From trips to the Emirates Stadium and meeting the Arsenal players on several occasions, to having a private gig with his favourite comedian Tim Vine. From taking cookery classes (with a supporting letter from Jamie Oliver) to meeting Chas and Dave for a good old knees up, and from visiting RAF Odiham to scoring the goal of the season to winning Clubman of the Year with Charing Youth FC. From playing cricket on the Egerton ground to playing tennis at Biddenden and from introducing the Year 6 End of School Mary Poppins play in 2016 to helping with
the production of the 2017 Year 6 Lion King production, Josh showed bravery, courage and a sometimes unbelievable level of compassion for others – to say we are proud of him and all he stood for is too much of an understatement for words…therefore….we now want to carry a vision into the future, our ongoing Journey For Josh.
“Ideas and actions to carry Josh’s name, character and smile into the future so that even those who didn’t know him, will know of him”
With incredible support and dedication from friends, neighbours, family and colleagues of all ages, over the last 4 years we have embarked on a journey of projects to raise funds for Taylor-Made Dreams, the Emily Ash Trust, CLIC Sargent and Great Ormond Great hospital to help them give such valuable help and support to other families living and coping with childhood cancer.
This year we turn some of our attention to raising funds and awareness for Taylor Made Dreams - the charity helping to make dreams come true for children with life-limiting illnesses - a cause very close to our hearts.
We have a number of events planned including charity football matches and a full house for our Egerton Quiz night hosted by Tim Vine himself!
Josh would have turned 17 on the 2nd of November 2021. Please help us proudly carry on Josh’s Journey, pledge what you can to help us (and Josh) help others. We hope it will make people stop, smile and remember our incredibly brave Josh…..in the stars and forever in our hearts - Martin, Lisa, Ben, Jack and Sam Wilkinson xxxxx
