Story

Joshua is 4 years old, he has severe spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, meaning he cannot talk, crawl, sit unaided for any length of time or walk...yet! He is such a determined little boy who has not only fought so hard to live, but is daily proving Dr's wrong, and doing it with style! He is such a happy boy, and even through the numerous appointments, hospital visits and daily challenges, he smiles!! Joshua suffers a lot of pain because of his CP, and for this alone he takes numerous medications. There is an operation that Joshua will be having, called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, where sensory nerves in his spine will be cut, relieving him of the spasticity in his legs which causes him so much pain, discomfort and deformities in his joints. It is hoped that in turn, relieving spasticity could also slow down the progression of his scoliosis. This is a major operation, and for Joshua to reach his full potential post-op, he will need intensive therapy, which is sadly not provided by the NHS. As you can imagine, private treatment and equipment to help with therapy does not come cheap, but as a family we are not willing to let that get in our way of giving Joshua the best possible quailty of life, a life with less pain, a chance to avoid further operations, and the possibility that he may one day walk with a walking frame!

Should we exceed the target amount (or if we do not raise enough funds, or if they cannot be used for any other reason) the funds raised will go to the general funds of Tree of Hope to assist other sick children.
