Story
I did it: ran my first marathon in 3 hours, 41 minutes, 8 seconds
HEART UK is passionate about preventing premature deaths caused by high cholesterol and cardiovascular disease.
Here's the deal folks:
1) You guys dig deep and sponsor me online for this wonderful charity.
2) Your generosity will motivate me to train in sun \ rain \ wind \ snow \ ice or whatever the great British weather has in store for us for the coming months, as well as the blisters and shin splints. As part of the training, I have recently run the Blenheim Palace 10k (0:45:34), the Wokingham Half Marathon (1:35:06), the Reading Half Marathon (1:33:41), the Silverstone Half Marathon (1:32:52), and the Alloa Half Marathon (1:33:23).
3) I will run my socks off every week and maintain a training log on my Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=692189637) so you know I will not be slacking.
AND
4) If that is not enough, I will be training and running wearing the legendary HEART UK red laces.
This will result in me completing the 26.2 miles of the 2008 London Marathon, hopefully in under three and a half hours.
Finally, donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. If you are a UK taxpayer please donate with Gift Aid, a simple way to increase the value of your gift to a charity by 28% at no cost to you. HEART UK can reclaim the basic rate income tax paid on the gift from HMRC, and let's face it folks we all know what those taxmen are like, right?
So please sponsor me now!
Cheers,
Scott
