I had been thinking about raising money for North West Air Ambulance for some time, my mind was made up when on the 8th December 2013 the son of a close friend of mine was involved in a major motorbike accident.  The amazing work of the paramedics who were first at the scene ultimately saved his life.  He was then air lifted to hospital, without this service it wouldn't have been possible for him to receive the immediate care he needed to give him the best chance of survival. Although he is still in a critical condition there have been many positive steps towards his recovery.  

I am pleased to say that the person involved is now off the critical list and has been moved to a spinal unit in Southport.  He wouldn't be starting this long road to recovery if it wasn't for the fantastic work of the paramedics and Air Ambulance.
