Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking part in Dover's first Moon Walk with some of my work friends - Natasha Dixon (Tasha), Angela Knight and Claire Jones. Together we are walking 10k raising money for Breast Cancer Care. I am personally taking part for various reasons.

When I was in my early twenties I discovered a lump in my left breast. After various tests it was agreed the lump was removed. My worry ended there. I was okay. However, the worry I went through at the time, the not knowing and what-ifs is something I'll never forget. Luckily nothing has re-appeared, however, my life hasn't been free of breast cancer. Many close members of my family and friends have being through this journey - the outcome for some good, but others not.

There are two people very close to me who were diagnosed with breast cancer, they went through their treatment and surgeries. They have kicked breast cancer's butt and are such an inspiration to me. My little boys absolutely adore them, and I am so grateful that they are here today to be part of my boys lives.

As I write this story, and when I do the walk I will be thinking of my Nan who passed away many years ago from breast cancer, but also others so close to me that are no longer here. Although a different cancer took them so early, I will be thinking of my Dad who passed away 11 years ago from pancreatic cancer and my mum in-law Bett and sister in-law Sue, who passed away 5 and 6 years ago respectively from ovarian cancer.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and if you were able to donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Julie xx
