Story

Dear Family & Friends,

Unique Home for Girls is a home for unwanted girls in Punjab, India. Unfortunately, despite huge efforts to educate and  eradicate female foeticide, attitudes that show a preference for boys over girls continue to exist. This wonderful home run by a hugely inspiring woman called Prakash Kaur (whom herself was abandoned as a baby) is a haven for nearly 60 girls. She raises them to become productive members of society through education and love.

As a collective, we are either proud parents or aunts/uncles to many adorable little girls. Knowing what abandoned children are going through, it breaks our heart to hear about these attitudes but also makes us determined in our focus and efforts to raise awareness of Unique Home as well as funds...and that’s where you come in!

We, The Fantastic Chaar (4 in Punjabi), are taking part in a skydive on Friday 15th March (was Sat 2nd) and we ask that you sponsor us and help this great charity. Unlike many other fundraising attempts all the costs for the actual skydive have been met by us personally and all funds donated will go to the charity.

Why a skydive you may wonder? Well, we wanted to set ourselves a huge challenge that scares us but we are driven to achieve because of the charity!

We wanted to share a great quote from Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of the Sikh faith. This passage comes from one of the first prayers traditionally sung in the morning called Asa Di Vaar – The Ballad of Hope.

"We are born of women, we are conceived in the womb of women and we are engaged and married to women.
We make friendships with women and the lineage in life continues because of women.
When one woman dies, we take another one, we are bound with the world through women.
Why should we talk ill of her, when she gives birth to kings?’

Please dig deep and give what you can!

With love & gratitude,
Harinder, Jazz, Nikki and Rupinder!
