SMA is a genetic disease that affects motor neurones. 1:40 of us is a carrier and in its most severe form children rarely live beyond 2 – making SMA the leading genetic cause of death in babies and toddlers. The SMA Trust is solely dedicated to funding research into a cure and treatments for SMA

Story

Back in March our son John was diagnosed with SMA Type 1. As you can imagine my husband and I were devasted and heartbroken knowing that we will not see our little man meet those maturing milestones that most parents take for granted like...

His first steps, his first grazed knee, his first day of school and his declaration of love for his first crush, his first fight or his first bike ride without stabilisers.

All we know is that for the time that he is with us, we will cherish every waking moment with our beautiful little blue eyed boy.

There are more families like ours out there that have to struggle on without adequate answers to questions like - is there going to be a cure or how far away is a cure - and so the money raised can help with finding those cures and also help and support for the families that are fortunate to have a child that is unlucky enough to have SMA.

Please help us to help others because the help and support that we have received up til now has been more than that provided by the NHS and without funding, that support simply cannot continue to be available or improve

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. No sponsorship is too small, after all it's the thought that counts
