In July 2018 long-time friends and local business-partners Andy Shields & Gordon Taylor will be embarking the Mongol Rally 2018, aiming to raise over £2,000 for Blackpool Trinity Hospice.
The Mongol Rally is a 4-week, 10,000 mile mega-drive across mountains, desert and steppe, from London, through the Mongolian desert, to the Russian town of Ulan-Ude. There’s no backup, no support and no set route; just us, our wits (hopefully) and a 30 year old, 1-litre Suzuki SJ we purchased for less than £1,000.
The rules of the Mongol Rally are gloriously simple…
1. We can only take a farcically small vehicle of 1 litre or less
2. We’re completely on our own
3. And we’ve got to raise £1000 for a charity of our choice
For anyone who knows Gordon and I, you’ll know this is no small feat as we have absolutely no experience of car mechanics or driving in the desert – in fact, up until a month ago, Gordon hadn’t driven a car for over 10 years!
Our team aims to raise £2,000 (or more) for Blackpool Trinity Hospice. Like many of our fellow Blackpool friends, I have sadly seen many friends and family pass through Blackpool Trinity Hospice over the years. Most recently was my Auntie Jean who lost a 12-month battle with cancer in October last year. The service, love and care provided by the hospice during this time was second to none - and we would both like to give a little back to this incredible unit and the people who work there.
We both really appreciate any support you can give. Dig deeps ladies and gents - this is for an amazing cause!
Thanks everyone
