Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community and focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to £35 million per year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Why? As some of our friends and family may be aware, a few years ago, a member of my family (my dad/ 'THE' Tom Feeney) was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Daily life was seemingly unaltered for a while, until the 'C' word was mentioned, which changed everything. A brain biopsy caused debilitating results; he was told he had cancer and may never walk again.

Since this news, my inspirational dad has fought to regain mobility whilst undergoing multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, rolling with all of the punches. He's dealt with all of this with a smile on his face, help from a loving family and a likkle' bit of chocolate!

Walking is an ability that we all take for granted and since watching the battle to regain his mobility, we have been inspired by the courage, tenacity and positivity Tom has shown throughout. Don't take walking for granted and please help us by sponsoring us today!

What are we doing?  Hiking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, an historical and challenging pilgrimage. Starting in the South of France and spanning across the Northern provinces of Spain, the 800km route ends in Santiago de Compostela on the Western coast of Spain.

When? Due to time limitations, we will be hiking the route in two parts. Part One (400km) will be done this year during the first two weeks of September with Part Two following shortly behind next Spring.

Who? Grace & Greg :)

What we hope to achieve through taking on this challenge is to raise awareness of brain tumours, the research that still needs to be done and the ways that they can affect people. 'Brain Tumour Research' receives less than 1% of the national cancer research spending in the UK and 20% of all cancers spread to the brain.
