Story
Hi!
I can't believe I'm doing this. I didn't think I would ever start running and I didn't think I would be ever any good at fundraising. Now I'm doing both.
I came across Family Rights Group through Cathy who runs the charity and I've always been really interested in what they do. When Cathy asked me if I wanted to do the London 10k run and raise some money for them I didn't have to think twice.
At work I deal with the outcomes of the policies that are aimed at children and families and hence I've become aware of some of the services that are being provided by the social services. I believe it is essential that the voices of these groups are heard in the policymaking and this is exactly what Family Rights Group does.
Another very important function of Family Rights Group is giving independent advise for children and families who are involved with local authority children's social services. The cases involved with social services may for example be child protection or disability related issues or fostering and adoption (some you know all this in more detail than others!)
The topic of children and families rights is close to my personal experiences: as some of you know, my teenage years were quite difficult due to family circumstances and I wish that back then we'd had this kind of advise available. So this is another reason why I fully support the work that Family Rights Group does.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Family Rights Group gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now! (If you wish to donate outside Justgiving you can give the sponsorship direct to me.)
