Story

"Be the change you want to see in the world"

Hey All!

Thanks for visiting my Fundraising Page!

First things first, WHY am I doing this....read the first paragraph then decide if you wish to read on & sponser me!

As u may know I am going India on this Charity Trek, where by all funds raised go 100% to charity as i am FULLY funding the Trek myself. The funds raised will be used for Rural Development Projects in India, such as schooling. The main reason I have decided to do the Trek is of the challenge of trekking the Himalayas which will include a 7day high altitude trek to 6114m! This is why I would like you to sponser me, but also because it is for a good cause. For me this is my first insight into real poverty (as we will be looking over sewa international projects in the first week in India). I watch programs on TV and i am rarely phased by the poverty, underage workers etc, but im sure this experiance will really open my eyes & the money raised will go so far to help those in need. Any donation would be welcome.

In Detail!!!....

It will be made up of Two Parts, the First will be Charity Work in Delhi for a Period of 7 days. In Delhi we will be staying in an Ashram (Very Basic Accommodation within a Temple) away from the 5 star hotel treatment and the western lifestyle and visit some of the Sewa charity projects to get a first hand view on where your money is going. We will return with a real-life view of what it is like for the poor to live in India, with the aim of carrying on Sewa Internationals work in the UK by not only raising money but awareness to our friends, family & colleagues with the hope that they can participate in future Project Ladakh Treks!

Then North to the Himalayas...Drive from Delhi to Manali and on to Leh the capital of Ladakh Region of the Himalayas. The 5 day drive will go over 5 high mountain passes . We will acclimatise and see some breath taking mountain scenery. High passes Rohtang 3978m , Baralacha 4892m , Nakila 4740m , Lachulung 5059m, Taglung 5200m etc.

Then onto the 7 DAY HIGH ALTITUDE TREK to the summit of STOK KANGRI 20114 ft / 6114m. On the final day with the aid of snow crampons we will tackle the tough steep & scenic route to the summit.

***I WILL BE FULLY FUNDING THE TREK MYSELF...ALL OF YOUR DONATIONS WILL GO TO SEWA INTERNATIONAL & ALL THE MONEY RAISED WILL GO TOWARDS RURAL & REMOTE ARES IN INDIA TOWARDS  EDUCATIONAL, DEVELOPMENT & HEALTH PROJECTS***

I have already begun my training, over the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend, the Ladakh 2008 Team Travelled to the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales, Where we tackled 3 peaks over 2 days, in Tretourous Weather, Hail & Snow storms, Rain, Gale force winds & Sub-Zero Temperatures!

The team also climbed Mt. Snowdon as further training for Ladakh, with hours of rain on our ascent to the peak, the views were amazing and has really got us geared up for the Himalayas!
