Liverpool Sunflowers is a small, local charity which provides crucial non-medical support to those affected by cancer, both patients and their carers and family.

I became involved in the charity last year, joining the board of trustees as treasurer.

The charity provides complimentary therapies, as well as exercise classes, counselling and a welcoming place for those affected by cancer to meet others who are dealing with similar issues.

The support Sunflowers' provides is not provided elsewhere in the local area and losing NHS funding has meant that fundraising is all the more important. Any sponsorship you make will directly help the charity to deliver these services.

Climbing Mont Blanc became a goal after trekking to Everest Base Camp in 2015. Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps, 4808m at the top. I have been doing a lot of training to get myself fit and  to hopefully be ready for the altitude, including a very, very wet and windy visit to Snowdon and completing the 100 miles of the West Highland Way in April (and gaining some very impressive blisters along the way)!
