Our clinical psychologists support children with brain tumours and their families from diagnosis, throughout treatment and thereafter, so they can reach their full potential and live their best lives.

Story

Hello Everyone!

My name is Kar Yik Dang and I work at Irwin Mitchell LLP. I am the new chair of Cambridge Irwin Mitchell Charitable Foundation (IMCF) and our Cambridge office’s charity of the year (COTY) is Tom’s Trust!

Tom’s Trust was founded in 2011 by Andrew and Debs Whiteley after the sad loss of their 9 year old son, Tom, as a result of a brain tumour. The family desperately needed more psychological support during this devastating time but there was almost none available to them. Debs and Andrew set out to ensure that psychological support for children and their families would be available from the point of diagnosis. The support would be names Tom’s Trust in memory of their brave Son.

As the new chair of IMTC, I would like to launch our COTY with an act of kindness! On Monday 17 February 2020 also known as “Random Acts Of Kindness Day” I will be braving the scissors on my very long hair to raise funds for Tom’s Trust. In addition, my hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust so here we get the best of both worlds and to support two amazing charities! My lovely colleague who is also an experienced hairdresser will be donating her time on this random act of kindness too!

So to get the ball rolling, I pledge to donate an inch of my hair for every £15.00 raised. The target is £150.00, that’s 15 inches of hair!!! In addition, for my colleagues in our office – I am also auctioning the chance to be in control of the scissors for the big chop! The highest bidder wins!

I hope you can support us!

Many thanks,

Kar Yik and IMCF Committee
