Kat's Outer Hebrides Challenge (aka escaping becoming a wicker man) · 28 May 2014

Mountain rescue team members are on call every day, of every month, of every year. Whatever the time, day or night. Whatever the weather. They do it voluntarily. They do it without question. At no cost to the casualty. And it's thanks to your generosity, they can continue saving lives. So thank you.

Story

Did you know that The Wicker Man -- that's the 1973 British original, *not* the Nicolas Cage remake -- was set in the Outer Hebrides?

To that end, I intend to join 15 other tech journalists as we walk, cycle and kayak the length and breadth of the Outer Hebrides (150 miles!) for three days, as we escape being turned into wicker men ourselves.

But more importantly, because the volunteer-run Mountain Rescue England & Wales requires a Land Rover Defender to continue its selfless work.

Please give generously -- it will not only help the UK-wide charity, but the thought of your support will also spur me on during those last tough miles.

Thanks!
