HI GUYS :-)

I'm very excited to be volunteering on a 3 month placement in Bolivia on September 23rd. This will involve working with children from disadvantaged and difficult backgrounds, and follows on from years of inspiring work by International Service (http://www.internationalservice.org.uk/) and their community partners in Bolivia.

I shall be involved in one of 3 projects - Aldeas Infantiles, Child Fund, or Upclose. Aldeas Infantiles involves finding host families for orphaned and abandoned children and training young people in technical areas so they can take control of their lives. Child Fund protects children and young people from discrimination, abuse, and exploitation, by making sure they reach school age in a healthy way, through education and the development of other essential life skills. Upclose aims to tackle local issues facing young children, including the high rates of abuse and abandonement.

They are worthwhile projects which make a real difference to communities, and I am honoured to be a part of them.

Here's where I need your help....I have to fundraise £800 to contribute to the ICS scheme, which enables young people from the UK and from overseas developing countries to work on placements that will make a lasting difference on impoverished communities around the world.. I am setting myself a fundraising challenge of living on £1 a day for a week (August 4th to 11th ) to raise the money - lots of porridge, lentils, and water for me :-)

I can only help out on these incredible projects if I reach my £800 target, so if you would quite like to sponsor me (even if only to see me struggle for a week :-P) then please, any sponsorship you lovely people can spare will be really appreciated!
