Update!!
(Whilst the justgiving people are helping me with the technicalities of freezing the page!)
******* I'm not now able to climb::
I have fractured a bone in my back (nightmare!) and am now unable to hike!!
At this point I'm not sure when / what sort of event I'll be able to do for this great charity and so for now I want to say thank you to everyone who donated and the justgiving page is organising to return monies to you all....
More to follow when I'm out of bed!

Dearest friends,
I am going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in October.
*Yes, you read that correctly – I am going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, this October. Yikes!! - hopefully all the way to the summit.
Now... here's the thing: I signed up to do this before doing any research.
I'm not going to lie, this trek looks about five thousand times harder than I envisaged (nice hike, I thought, get a tan etc. errrrr NO!!!)
Putting my stupidity aside, this is the most important bit - let me tell you why I’m doing it….
Everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their own personal potential and I want to help one amazing charity called Downright Excellent.
https://downrightexcellent.org
which gives children with Down's Syndrome the chance to reach theirs.
I’m raising money for 'Downright Excellent' because, after a year on the waiting list, my brother and sister in law, John and Lou have recently been lucky enough to get a place there for James, who has Down's Syndrome.
James is a fantastic little boy. He's smart, funny, brave, and always the happiest little soldier in the room.
When James was 15 months old, he heroically sailed his way through open heart surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He's since completed a triathlon of further surgeries without so much as a word of complaint!
James starts mainstream school this September: Like lots of kids in his position, he'll get a little extra help at school, which is fantastic to know, but an organisation such as Downright Excellent can really add to the development and support which is invaluable for lovely children who just need a little more help with their speech and language and motor skills.
I know people send this sort of thing around quite often - but please, in this case (!) appreciate my utter lack of fitness and help me to complete it by sending some dosh!!
It would really mean an awful lot.
Even just a quid!

FYI:
None of your money will go towards the funding of the trip, everything anyone donates goes to Downright Excellent.
