This year I simply want to
raise as much as I can for children who are less fortunate than you or
I. Those who need the aid of specialised wheelchairs to be able to live a
normal life, play with their friends, dance or do sports.
It is all too easy for us to complain about
our hardships, but please for a moment think about being totally
immobile without assistance. Limited or inhibited mobility means it is
difficult to move from room to room in your home- a right nuisance to
try to use a toilet or even sit comfortably in anything other than a
personalised wheelchair that supports and facilitates the body in all
the right places. These hardships all come before the dream luxury of
being able to physically play or join in with games and sports.
Get Kids Going!
provides children and young people up to
the age of 26 with
wheelchairs to use everyday (for the home and school) as well as
sport-specific ones that enable them to do marathons, triathlons,
tennis, mountain skiing, sailing, rugby, water skiing, basketball,
athletics... you get the idea.
As you can imagine, this kit is expensive
and most children would go without if if weren't for the generosity of
givers to Get Kids Going! who then
provide less fortunate families with these chairs as well as grants to
help them with physiotherapy fees, travel costs and other financial
burdens.
Please help me to raise money by running the
largest Half Marathon in the world in any way you can offering
encouragement, support or if you can spare a donation.
Lets give disabled children and young people
the chance of a lifetime, freedom and wonderful opportunites- the kind
that you or I take for granted every day. Lets 'Get Kids Going'!
Thankyou-
Kay.
ps... Anyone who knows me, will be aware that I fractured my coccyx 4 weeks ago. Despite the consequential pain and lack of training, I DO still plan to run this race and would appreciate any kind of metaphorical 'slap on the back' or 'kick up the bum' to encourage me! I
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
