The London Walk is a night walk through London to raise money for homeless charities. Starting and finishing at St Martins in-the-Fields Church with a variety of distances available for people. From a 10k to marathon.

Story

Homelessness is increasing in London. To help tackle this, I will be walking the ‘London Walk’ throughout the night on Friday the 10th March 2023, to raise money for my local charity, Spires, a member of the London Homeless Collective – supported by the Mayor of London.

Spires is a charity based in Streatham, South London, that supports people who are homeless including street homeless; or living in insecure housing and facing homelessness. Spires outreach service also helps to empower and support vulnerable women at risk of exploitation, so that they can make independent choices about their lives, as well as advocating for their rights.

The London Homeless Collective brings 25 charities together from pavement to policy. Collectively, the group shares ideas, experience, and opportunities, and work together to ensure that nobody is left behind. On Friday 10th March the sector is coming together with one aim - to fight homelessness in our capital. Aiming to raise £250,000 to support much needed services over one night.

I worked in my Local Housing Authority for 10 years and have seen first-hand the impact that these on-the-ground charities make to homeless and other vulnerable people – they are an absolute lifeline to people- and Spires does exceptional work to help vulnerable people and strengthen the community. Any support you can provide to the team at Spires will be greatly appreciated to enable them to continue and build upon their fantastic work.
