‘Sleep rough so others don’t have to’

Youth homelessness has many causes and takes many forms. In many cases it is hidden due to sofa-surfing or inadequate housing as well as rough sleeping. At YMCA Southampton we provide supported housing that is safe and secure and we work with young people to make every attempt to ensure that homelessness doesn’t happen again.

What is Sleep Easy?

Sleep Easy is our annual fundraising event where participants brave the cold and sleep in a cardboard box for one night to raise awareness and attract sponsorship for a worthwhile cause. Sleep Easy is not only a challenging and eye-opening experience, but an opportunity to have fun, make friends, and raise money to help eradicate youth homelessness. All funds raised from this event are split between the following areas:

• 70% to YMCA Southampton Housing for young people.
• 20% to  YMCA Fairthorne Group’s bursary scheme, providing support and access to our valuable YMCA services for local children, young people and families facing challenges in their lives.
• 10% to international development through Y Care International.
