Maratona di Roma · 10 April 2016 ·
Many of you will know us and our story, but for those who do not…. Our daughter Erin was born in January 2014 with an undiagnosed Diaphragmatic Hernia. This was a life threatening and critical condition involving a hole appearing in her diaphragm whilst developing in the womb which allowed her bowels, stomach and spline to pass up into her chest area compressing and preventing the development of her lungs, thus preventing her being able to breathe on her own when born. Erin required life-saving surgery and a long recovery within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Marys hospital.
The thought of having to leave her in hospital alone in such a critical condition and go home every night was inconceivable for us as new parents
We were so extremely lucky and fortunate enough to be given a room at the Ronald McDonald Manchester House on the grounds of St Mary's / Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, for the 2 months our daughter spent in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
This for us and every other parent fortunate enough to receive a room within the Charity house, made an awful and upsetting time for us a lot easier to cope with, in being able to be with our daughter and be involved with her care even in her poorly condition, by being a minute away at any time. For me, the thought of a parent having to leave a poorly child in hospital is just not an option.
It costs the charity £25 a night to house a family in a room, and this is all reliant on donations and charity fundraising.
In a moment of temporary insanity, I have decided to join a team of 10 runners who will be running the Rome Marathon on 10th April 2016. You may ask why Rome? If im going to do it, im going to do it in style! Those of you that know me will know I am far from being a trained athlete, but I am dedicated to training and giving this event my all in support of this amazing charity. After all id run to the ends of the earth for my daughter, so a marathons nothing…… right!? (nervous laugh)
Please support me in this enormous challenge I am taking on and help me raise my minimum target of £2,000 for the charity. I fully understand Christmas is around the corner, but I am asking you to please donate the amount of an extra present you would perhaps buy at this time of year, or even the cost of that extra festive drink you would have. This money would be so gratefully received by by the charity and you would truly be helping the worthiest of causes and I myself would be so grateful of your support
Massive thanks in advance and I hope you will take the 2 minutes it takes to click and donate.
Ciao for now
