My Superhero Dad 2019-2021

Milton Keynes Marathon 2020 Β· 6 September 2020 to 19 September 2020 Β·
π IN LOVING MEMORY π Five years ago my Dad was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer and sadly gave up his fight and hung up his cape in July 2019.
In May of 2019 I was pleased to run my 1st half Marathon in Milton Keynes in Memory of my dear friend Jean and my mother in law Barbie.
Dad was always there to help encourage me during all of my training despite being poorly in hospital and before being transferred to the Hospice at the end of May. Dad wasn't too keen on the idea at first as I had my own health issues to deal with but after realizing how committed and determined I was durring my training he soon had no choice but to be happy for me. Having got to the finish line I knew within my heart that in 2020 I would be doing it again, but this time in my Dads memory.
ππ Also in June 2019 I arranged my Dads 30th Pearl Wedding Vow Renewal at the Hospice, on the same day that the charity celebrated their 30th Anniversary, and the hospice celebrated their 10th anniversary. later that evening i took part in the Midnight Walk 10 days before he passed away. Durring this time I was able to find a fitness company VRUK who kindly offered to help support FNHC by organizing virtual runsππ
ππFlorence Nightingale Hospice is a very special place. Tucked away on the site of Stoke Mandeville Hospital. You would never know the difference it makes to people at the most difficult times. Providing palliative and end of life care through its inpatient unit as well as the new Hospice at Home Service, Lymphoedema clinic, Day Hospice, Bereavement and listening service and also the Childrenβs Florrieβs team. The charity needs Β£1 million each and every year to keep the services running. Throughout my Dads stay at the hospice I couldn't fault any of the staff. It really is a home from home environment. They do everything with so much passion with their patients regardless of the different needs they all have. Not only did they care for my Dad within hiis last few hours, they were there for us as a family too, even after his passing. I'm so happy that despite Dad not being able to achieve all that he wanted in the short time he had left with us, what we did do was make more happy memories with the help of the hospice. I'm truly so grateful for everything they did for Dad and he felt the same dispte his illness. I felt so welcome every day I saw my dad that it became my second home . With your help Iβm asking for donations however big or small to help this amazing charity to mark my Dads 1st Anniversary. But to also help me bring some closure ππ
