Story
In July 2022, I was sitting in my car parked in Sainsbury’s and got the worst call of my life. My Mum had just had a cardiac arrest and was being air lifted to hospital. No warnings and no signs. We’d even all spoken that morning! How could this be real?!
I drove from Twickenham to Swansea without knowing if Mum was still alive. I finally made it to my Mum’s side, she was stable but very ill. It had been a serious heart attack.
Mum had a second, and then a third heart attack and the doctor came to tell us the worst possible news. Mum wasn’t going to make it. As a family we sat by her side as she left us.
Our lives changed instantly. Mum was the centre and rock of our family and now we had to live without her.
We miss Mum every second of everyday. It hurts so much that’s she’s not here to see her grandchildren grow up. As my Dad said last year when he ran the Marathon, if we can just do our bit to help stop another family going through what we did, then we’re doing alright.
My friends and family helped me get through the worst time of my life, and I’m in need of your support again as I take on the LONDON MARATHON to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. Any donations to such a worthy cause are very welcome. I’ll need words of encouragement and a cheer squad to get me through, and I hope to see as many of your faces through the sweat (and tears) as possible.
