Story

I'm back and in one piece after some of the most fantastic days of my life cycling over the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range in Andalucia in Southern Spain. First of all the team of 19 riders all linked to Intrinsic Financial Services group as either Managers, Board members, Advisers, Firm Principals or family members all made it over the course which in the words of a colleague was truly brutal (and extremely beautiful too).

We took 3 days to cycle over 200 miles and ascended around 5,000 meters in overall height. So in addition to some massive uphills, including a 14k section to the top of 2,500m Mount Peurto la Ragua(classified as a category 1 climb, the hardest by Tour de France standards) we also rode some awesome downhills of equal length with sweeping hairpin bends and also very welcome breather(See video of my colleague John below as example- Our group were I think going too fast to video - Ed tried, his speedy tarmac video will be uploaded shortly!!!).
The most wonderful thing after the riding and comaraderie the whole group felt was the massive sense of achievment when we realised we had reached a total of over £40,000 raised for the UK childrens hospice movement.

My personal goal is with your help to raise over £1,500 for this fantastic cause and as of today 29 September I am at £1,250 or 83% with your fantastic support so far.

As a Dad of 2, I cant imagine how hard it must be for the estimated 25,000 parents in the UK who have had to deal with being told their child will die before them.

Makes my challenge look pretty weak in comparison!

So I've decided to add another leg and have entered the Beachy Head off-road Marathon on the 22nd October. Thats 26.2 Miles and about 4,500 feet of muddy climbing over the South Downs near Eastbourne.

My broken foot seems to be healing well now so its just down to me to raise the funds I've promised.

So for those who have already supported me THANK YOU YOU ARE THE VERY BEST and for anyone who has pledged support or wants to do so now to encourage me for this new challenge THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. If you are happy using this site, its very easy please do as its the simplest way for me to collect money, however if you would prefer to send a cheque please send it to me at Treetops 2c Thomas Turner Drive, East Hoathly East Sussex BN8 6QF made payable to Childrens Hospices UK with your address for Gift aid purposes if possible.
