Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
Our twins Thomas & Amelia were born 14 weeks early (26 weeks pregnant) on 19th July 2008 at 00.17 and 00.53 in Bedford Hospital. Our beautiful babies were transferred to St George's later the same day. Amelia (986g at birth) is doing really well and is now finally at home with us.
Our Son Thomas (1050g at birth) had a severe bleed on the brain. We understand that this in varying degrees, is very common in babies with extreme prematurity and we sadly lost Thomas aged only 6 days on 25th July.
During Thomas' short life we were supported in ways we would never have expected possible by the consulting and the nursing staff at St Georges. We feel that the level of care they received has been the making of Amelia and has been the best start she could have had, and we take comfort in the knowledge that Thomas was given the best possible chance of survival.
We cannot begin to thank St Georges Neo-Natal unit for the support they have given us as a family and both the unit and the staff will always be very very special to us. We have started this fundraising page and Sarah Dyer and I (Kiera) took part in the 2008 Adidas 5k challenge in Hyde Park. We are sure that the donations made in memory of Thomas will help provide some of the physical resources that will help them to continue doing such an amazing job.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me & help raise money for: Friends Of The Neonatal Unit At St. Georges. They get your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
