Story

So here it goes!

I’ll be running for a local charity, @askforjake, which is close to my heart. I’ve always wanted to run this event, for as long as I can remember and 2022 was the year I started ticking off that bucket lists. Somehow I think this may be tougher than any of the walks, hikes or mountain climbs I’ve done 🤣

I’ve struggled with my own mental health. Recently and in my past, but since meeting the Ask for Jake family I’ve been nothing short of inspired by what they do!

Ask for Jake was created in the wake of Jake McPhail’s suicide in 2019, to train people in mental health support and awareness. They have their own peer-to-peer support training course, for mental health and suicide awareness and prevention, which is free to any community worldwide. Ask for Jake also provide free weekly drop in peer-to-peer support and look to support the local community in various ways - such as recently putting on a free Christmas Day lunch.

The journey ahead looks tough but I’m excited, and with the support of my nearest and dearest, I know I will cross that start line for one, but also the finish line too! Let’s go 🏃‍♂️
